The Hooks Agency, Inc., one of the oldest family owned businesses in Americus, is proud to announce the addition of Sumter County native, Rhett Simmons as a new business partner.
Mr. Simmons is the son of Gloria and Mill Simmons of Plains. He is a graduate of Southland Academy and Auburn University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at Auburn; Simmons was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Mr. Simmons is married to the former Jessica Hufstetler, and they have a one year old daughter, Milly. The Simmons currently live in Thomasville and are members of The First Baptist Church.
For the past 10 years Simmons has owned his own Cotton States Insurance Agency, “The Rhett Simmons Agency” in Thomasville. Mr. Simmons has annually been named one of the top producers of the Cotton States Insurance Company.
“I am excited over moving back to my home county and becoming a part of not only an old and statewide respected Independent Insurance Firm, but also to become part of a growing, young group of community leaders”, said Simmons.

The Hooks Agency, Inc. was founded in 1903 as The Herbert Hawkins Agency. In 1944 the firm was purchased by Mr. Hawkins great nephew, T.B. (Tommy) Hooks, III and then by Mr. Hooks’ sons, Joe and George in 1976. The local business has been in continuous operation for 106 years.
The Hooks Agency specializes in business, homeowner, auto, life, and health insurance, and represents most of the nationally known insurance companies.
